CLASS DESCRIPTIONS*

Preschool Mommy or Daddy with Me!: A small group dance movement class for very young children. Circle time, gentle stretching and core development. Introduction to spatial concepts, basic motor skills which can later be applied to any type of dance technique or athletic activity. Class finishes with a story dance of an improvisatory nature, danced to beautiful classical music, some of it original. Men & Boys are encouraged to dance!

Pre-School Ballet: A small group Children's Division class with ballet-based dance movement class for very young children. Circle time, gentle stretching, learning the 5 positions of the arms, 1st ; 2nd position of the feet. Brief barre, with introduction to spatial concepts, basic motor skills which can later be applied to ballet technique. Class finishes with a story ballet of an improvisatory nature, danced to beautiful classical music.

Preparatory Ballet 1: A preparatory class for children beginning the study of ballet, including brief barre and beginning ballet steps using the barre to facilitate use of turn-out, gentle stretching, center and corner practice, development of graceful arm movement. The 5 positions of the arms are practiced, and 3rd position of the feet is added to 1st and 2nd positions. The proper use of core muscles to develop good posture and balance is emphasized, along with musicality and artistic expression.

Preparatory Ballet 2: A Children's Division preparatory ballet class for children, attended twice weekly, with some ballet experience, including a ballet barre where basic ballet steps are learned and the foundation of turn-out and proper posture are emphasized, utilizing 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions of the feet. Gentle stretching, center and corner practice. Children learn to develop good breathing habits and musicality as they explore and enjoy the basics of classical ballet.

Elementary Ballet 1: An Elementary ballet Class for children ages 7-12 who have completed the level of Preparatory 2 or its equivalent, which meets twice weekly. Structured with an emphasis on fundamentals; exercises to develop strength, coordination and graceful movement, gentle stretching and basic steps learned at the barre, center work, and practice from the corner. NOTE: This is a Combined-Level Class with Level Preparatory Ballet 2 (PB2), and which extends beyond that level by 15 minutes, for more advanced center/corner work.

Elementary Ballet 2: An Elementary Ballet Class for children ages 8-12 meeting twice weekly with requisite ballet experience. An hour-long ballet class with an emphasis on fundamentals; exercises to develop strength, coordination and graceful movement, gentle stretching and basic steps learned at the barre, center work, and practice from the corner.

Elementary Ballet 3: An Elementary Ballet Class in the Children's Division for ages 8-12 with requisite ballet experience, which meets three times per week. A structured ballet class with an emphasis on fundamentals; exercises to develop strength, coordination and graceful movement, gentle stretching and basic steps learned at the barre, center work, and practice from the corner. This is a Combined Level class. This Level may audition on Sat., Aug. 29th from 2:45-3:45 for membership in the Chambersburg Ballet, The CBT School's regional performing ensemble for the 2020-21 Performance Season.

Elementary Ballet 4: An Elementary Ballet Class in the Children's Division for ages 9-13 with requisite ballet experience, which meets four times weekly. Advanced stretching techniques, jumps and turns are also offered. This Level may audition on Sat., Aug. 29th from 2:45-3:45 for membership in the Chambersburg Ballet, The CBT School's regional performing ensemble for the 2020-21 Performance Season.

Elem Pointes & Pre-Pointes: A class for students who have been cleared for pointe study by the CBT School Director. Pointe work requires a minimum of 3 ballet technique classes per week. Barre, center, and corner exercises include eleve; and releve, echappe, temps lie, pas de bourree, bouree and other components and basic pointe steps, plus tours pique and chaine's.

Intermediate Ballet 1: An Intermediate Ballet Class for ages 10 and up in the Children's Division with requisite ballet experience, which meets a minimum of four times weekly, Focus is on developing strength, coordination and facility, with an emphasis on furthering understanding of epaulement. Barre and center work, and practice from the corner.

Intermediate Ballet 2: An Intermediate Ballet Class for ages 12 and up in the Children's Division with requisite ballet experience, meeting a minimum of four times weekly. Focus is on developing strength, coordination and facility, with an emphasis on furthering understanding of epaulement. Barre and center work focusing on the 8 positions of the body, adagio work, pirouettes en dedans and en dehors en attitude and arabesque, batterie, petit and grand allegro, and turns of many varieties. Mask currently required.

Intermediate Advanced Ballet 1: An Intermediate/Advanced Ballet Class for ages 12 and up in the Children's Division with requisite ballet experience. Level includes a minimum of five weekly ballet technique classes. Focus is on further developing strength and endurance, facility and extension. Adagio work, pirouettes en dedans and en dehors en attitude, arabesque and ala seconde, batterie, petit and grand allegro, and turns of many varieties.

Company Trainee/Jr. Class w/Pointes & Rehearsal Children's Division specially designed to provide a blended technique pointe class for Trainees and Juniors of the Chambersburg Ballet and to provide; under the School's auspices, additional rehearsal time. (NOTE: If interested in Chambersburg Ballet company membership, interested new students Levels Elementary 3 and up as well as those who were Trainees during School Year 2019-20 should attend this class on August 29th, as it will serve as the Audition Class for Performance Season 2020-21 and will determine placement either as a Trainee, Junior, or 1st-Yr. Senior member.) Masks currently required.

Company Trainee/Junior Class: Children's Division specially designed to provide a blended technique; pointe class for Trainees and Juniors of the Chambersburg Ballet, and to provide under the School's auspices, additional rehearsal time. (NOTE: If interested in Chambersburg Ballet company membership, interested new students Levels Elementary 3 and up as well as those who were Trainees during School Year 2019-20 should attend this class on August 29th, as it will serve as the Audition Class for Performance Season 2020-21, and will determine placement either as a Trainee, Junior, or 1st-Yr. Jr./Sr. Company Class: A Children's Division ballet class specifically designed to provide a blended technique; pointe class for Intermediate and Advanced Students of the CBT School who are Junior and Senior members of CBT School's associated regional performing company, The Chambersburg Ballet, the performing ensemble of the CBT School, and to provide, under the School's auspices, additional rehearsal time. (NOTE: If interested in Chambersburg Ballet company membership, interested new students Levels Intermediate 1 and up as well as those who were Junior or Senior dancers during School Year 2019-20 should attend this class on August 29th, as it will serve as the Audition Class for Performance Season 2020-21, and will determine placement either as a Junior, 1st-Yr. Senior, or Senior member.) Mask currently required.

Jr./Sr. Company Class, with Pointes: A Children's Division ballet class specifically designed to provide a blended technique ; pointe class for Intermediate and Advanced Students of the CBT School who are Junior and Senior members of CBT School's associated regional performing company, The Chambersburg Ballet, the performing ensemble of the CBT School, and to provide, under the School's auspices, additional rehearsal time. Stretch n' Strength Adult Mat Class: A well-balanced class consisting of core work and gentle stretching, which can be modified individually to suit the needs of the student. Participants learn over time, to coordinate their breathing with the stretches and exercises given, thus encouraging muscle fibers and connective tissues to lengthen, increasing range of motion, and allowing for more efficiency, strength-building, and endurance. Full use of breath also enhances oxygenation, which in turn nourishes all of the systems of the body.
