Beginner Classes
Preschool Class (3-year-olds)
- Saturday 9:30 - 10:15 AM, Studio Fonteyn
- Tuition: $127.50 per 10-week Quarter
An entry-level class in ballet and creative movement for 3-year-olds consisted of Circle Time, Ballet Barre (a few exercises facing a low, small child-size barre) Center, and Corner (with coordination/strength-building exercises across the floor such as chasse, skip, and leap.) Class finishes with Reverence (learning how to bow, and also to honor the teacher). This CBT School Year will conclude with an in-studio Performance/Celebration Cupcake Party for families and friends. Students will receive one free Child and one Adult ticket to the Chambersburg Ballet's; "The Little Mermaid" ballet on Sat., June 10th, at 2:00 p.m., onstage at the Capitol Theater.
Pre-School Ballet (Age 4 & 5)
- Saturday 9:30 - 10:15 AM, Studio Nureyev
- Tuition: $127.50 per 10-week Quarter
A small group Children's Division class with ballet-based dance movement for young children. The class consists of Circle Time, gentle stretching, learning the 5 positions of the arms, 1st; 2nd position of the feet. Brief barre, with an introduction to spatial concepts, and basic motor skills which can later be applied to ballet technique. Class finishes with a story ballet of an improvisatory nature danced to beautiful classical music.
Children's Beginning Ballet (Age 6-10)
- Saturday 10:15 - 11:15 AM, Studio Fonteyn
- Tuition: $135 per 10-Week Quarter
A Beginning Ballet Class for children ages 6-10, where students learn the 5 positions of the arms and 3 different positions of the feet (1st, 2nd, 3rd), as well as basic ballet exercises, steps, and terminology. They learn to stretch, skip, chase, leap to music, and finish with an improvisatory dance to beautiful classical music. Class ends with the traditional stage bow or reverence, to thank their teacher and one another.
Elementary Classes
Elementary Ballet (Age 8-12)
- Monday & Wednesday, 4:30 - 5:30 PM, Studio Fonteyn
- Tuition: $260 per 10-Week Quarter (*Multi-Class Discount Applied)
An hour-long Elementary Ballet Class in the Children's Division for ages 8-12, emphasizing the fundamentals of ballet; exercises to develop strength, coordination, and graceful movement. Gentle stretching and basic steps are learned at the barre, with center work and practice from the corner. This Level may audition on Sat., Sept. 10th from 11:30-1:00 for "The Nutcracker" and/or membership in the Chambersburg Ballet, The CBT School's regional performing ensemble, for the 2022-23 Performance Season.
Upper Elementary Ballet
- Monday, Tuesday & Thursday, 4:30 - 5:45 PM, Studio Nureyev
- Tuition: $390 per 10-Week Quarter (*Multi-Class Discount Applied)
A high Elementary Ballet Class for ages 8 and up with requisite ballet experience with emphasis on exercises to develop strength, coordination, and graceful movement. Enhanced stretching techniques, pirouettes, adagio, jumps, and turns are also offered. Some of these students of age 10 or older may be eligible to study *pointes or at age 9, *pre-pointers (SEE Elementary Pointes/Pre-Pointe; Class). This Level may audition on Sat., Sept. 10th from 10:30-11:30 for "The Nutcracker" and/or membership in the Chambersburg Ballet, The CBT School's regional performing ensemble, for the 2022-23 Performance Season.
Intermediate Classes
Intermediate Ballet
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 5:45 - 7:15 PM, Studio Nureyev
- Tuition: $520 per 10-Week Quarter (*Multi-Class Discount Applied)
An Intermediate Ballet Class for ages 12 and up in the Children's Division with requisite ballet experience, and a focus on further development of strength, endurance, facility and extension. Adagio work, pirouettes en dedans and en dehors, en attitude, arabesque and ala seconde, batterie, petit and grand allegro, and turns of many varieties. Students at this level are eligible to study pointes (SEE *Elementary Pointes ; *Intermediate Pointes). This Level may audition on Sat., Sept. 10th from 10:30-11:30 for "The Nutcracker" and/or membership in the Chambersburg Ballet, The CBT School's regional performing ensemble, for the 2022-23 Performance Season.
Upper-Intermediate Ballet
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday, 5:45 - 7:15 PM, Studio Nureyev
- Tuition: $520 per 10-Week Quarter (*Multi-Class Discount Applied)
A high Intermediate Ballet Class for ages 12 and up in the Children's Division, with requisite ballet experience, including Partnering and extra Pointe work (SEE *Elementary Pointes ; *Intermediate Pointes)., and focusing on further development of strength and endurance, facility and extension. Students at this level are eligible to study pointers. Adagio work, pirouettes en dedans and en dehors, en attitude, arabesque and ala seconde, batterie, petit and grand allegro, and turns of many varieties. This Level may audition on Sat., Sept. 10th from 10:30-11:30 for "The Nutcracker" and/or membership in the Chambersburg Ballet, The CBT School's regional performing ensemble, for the 2022-23 Performance Season.
Pre-Pointe Class
- Thursday, 5:45 - 6:30 PM, Studio Nureyev
- Tuition: $140 per 10-Week Quarter (*Multi-Class Discount will be applied upon registration)
A solid Elementary Pointe Class performed in soft shoes with ribbons along with Elementary Point students), for qualified students age 9 and up, who are of the Upper Elementary ballet technique level or above. Class includes exercises at the barre to strengthen lower legs and feet and learn basic pointe techniques, plus center work consisting of echappes, sous sous, and temps lies, concluding with bourees, simple turns, and pique arabesque from the corner.
Elementary Pointes
- Thursday, 5:45 - 6:30 PM, Studio
- Tuition: $127.50 per 10-Week Quarter (*Multi-Class Discount will be applied upon registration)
A solid Elementary Pointe Class for qualified students age 10 and up, who are of the Upper Elementary ballet technique level or above. Class includes exercises at the barre to strengthen lower legs and feet and learn basic pointe techniques, plus center work consisting of echappe;s, sous sous, and temps lies, concluding with bourees, simple turns and pique; arabesque from the corner.
Intermediate Pointes
- Saturday, 1:15 - 2 PM, Studio
- Tuition: $127.50 per 10-Week Quarter (*Multi-Class Discount will be applied upon registration)
A thorough Intermediate Pointe Class for those students Intermediate Level and above who have completed two or more years on pointe, are comfortable with repeated releve's on one foot i the center, can pirouette en pointe, and execute consecutive turns from the corner. If there is question as to the suitability of the student for this class, please consult the Director.
Wednesday Class Upper Levels Combined
- Wednesday, 4:30 - 6 PM, Studio Nureyev
- Tuition: $145 per 10-Week Quarter (*Multi-Class Discount will be applied upon registration)
A combined, upper-level class for ages 12 and up, with requisite ballet experience and includes all Intermediate, Upper Intermediate, and Intermediate/Advanced students at CBT School. Focus is on further developing strength and endurance, facility and extension. Adagio work, pirouettes en dedans and en dehors, en attitude, arabesque and ala seconde, batterie, petit and grand allegro, and turns of many varieties. This Level may audition on Sat., Sept. 10th from 10:30-11:30 for "The Nutcracker" and/or membership in the Chambersburg Ballet, The CBT School's regional performing ensemble, for the 2022-23 Performance Season.
Company Classes
Trainee/Junior Company Class
- Saturday, 10:30 - 11:30 AM, Studio Nureyev
- Tuition: $135 per 10-Week Quarter (*Multi-Class Discount will be applied upon registration)
A blended technique class for Elementary Students of the CBT School, chosen by audition to participate as Trainee and Junior members of CBT School's associated regional performing company, The Chambersburg Ballet. (NOTE: If interested in Company membership, or in simply auditioning for "The Nutcracker", interested students of the Elementary Level should attend this class on Sept. 10th from 10:30-11:30, p.m., as it will serve as the Audition Class for; The Nutcracker and the Chambersburg Ballet's Performance Season 2022-23.
Jr./Sr. Company Class
- Saturday, 11:30 - 1 PM, Studio Nureyev
- Tuition: $145 per 10-Week Quarter (*Multi-Class Discount will be applied upon registration)
A blended technique class for Intermediate and Intermediate Advanced Students of the CBT School who are Junior and Senior members of CBT School's associated regional performing company, The Chambersburg Ballet. (NOTE: If interested in Company5 membership, or in simply auditioning for "The Nutcracker" interested students Levels Intermediate and up should attend this class on Sept. 10th from 11:30-1:00, p.m., as it will serve as the Audition Class for Performance Season 2022-23, and will determine placement either as a Junior, 1st-Yr. Senior, Senior, or Auxiliary Dancer.)
Musical Theatre Classes
Kidz Musical Theater
- Saturday, 11:30 - 12:30 PM, Studio Fonteyn
- Tuition: $135 per 10-Week Quarter (*Multi-Class Discount will be applied upon registration)
A Musical Theatre class specially created by Miss Charlotte Hafer of Mar-le-Nie Studios, teaching a Suite of Musical Theater Dances, where students will sing, act, and dance in traditional and Broadway jazz styles. Students will participate in a Spring Outreach performance of the Chambersburg Ballet. Those students who are already registered do not need to pay an extra Registration Fee for this class. Those taking Musical Theater only should do so; they also are strongly advised to take at least one ballet class per week (consult with CBT School Director Lavinia Reid for suitable ballet class suggestions.)
Teen/College Musical Theater
- Thursday, 4:30 - 5:30 PM, Studio Fonteyn
- Tuition: $135 per 10-Week Quarter (*Multi-Class Discount will be applied upon registration)
A program specially created by Miss Charlotte Hafer of Mar-le-Nie Studios teaching a Suite of Musical Theater Dances, where students will sing, act, and dance in traditional and Broadway jazz styles. Adult Classes
Teen/Adult Beginning/Basic Ballet
- Tuesday, 4:45 - 6 PM, Studio Fonteyn
- Tuition: $140 per 10-Week Quarter
An excellent class to learn basic ballet fundamentals and steps, starting with the five positions of the feet and of the arms. Barre exercises to strengthen feet and legs and build coordination of graceful arm movement and gentle stretching. Center work to improve balance and learn steps, and corner work to learn and practice jumps, turns, and leaps. If they wish, students are welcome to participate in the CBT School's End-of-School-Year Performances of "The Little Mermaid" on Sat., June 10th, 2:00 ; 6:30 p.m. at the Historic Capitol Theatre.
Chair Yoga
- Friday, 9:30 - 10:30 AM, Studio Fonteyn (Zoom available)
- Tuition: $75 per 10-Week Quarter
A well-balanced class which is done seated in a chair, and consists of core work, yoga poses, and gentle stretching, which can be modified individually to suit the needs of the student. Participants learn, over time, to coordinate their breathing with the stretches and exercises given, thus encouraging muscle fibers and connective tissues to lengthen, increasing range of motion, and allowing for more efficiency, strength-building, and endurance. Full use of breath also enhances oxygenation, which in turn nourishes all of the systems of the body.
Stretch 'n Strength Adult Mat Class
- Wednesday, 9:30 - 10:30 AM, Studio Nureyev
- Tuition: $75 per 10-Week Quarter
A well-balanced mat class consists of core work and gentle stretching, which can be modified individually to suit the needs of the student.
