Pre-Primary Ballet Classes
Pre-Primary Ballet 1 (Ages 3-5)

Instructor: Alcinda Burchill
A small group class, limited to 10 individual dancers, with ballet-based dance movements for young children ages 3-5. The class consists of Circle Time, gentle stretching, learning the 5 positions of the arms, 1st; 2nd position of the feet. An introduction to spatial concepts, and basic motor skills which can later be applied to ballet technique. Class finishes with a story ballet of an improvisatory nature danced to beautiful classical music.
Primary Ballet Classes
Primary Ballet (Age 6-8)

Instructor: Leyshla Oquendo
A beginning ballet class, limited to 12 individual dancers, for children ages 6-8, where students learn the 5 positions of the arms and 3 different positions of the feet (1st, 2nd, 3rd), as well as basic ballet exercises, steps, and terminology. They learn to stretch, skip, chase, leap to music, and finish with an improvisatory dance to beautiful classical music. Class ends with the traditional stage bow or reverence, to thank their teacher and one another.

An hour-long ballet class for children ages 8-10 years of age, emphasizing the fundamentals of ballet; including the introduction of exercises standing at the barre to develop strength, coordination, and balance. Gentle stretching and basic steps are learned at the barre, with center work and basic movements across the floor.
Level 1B Ballet (Ages 9-10)

An hour-long ballet class for children ages 9-10 years of age, emphasizing the fundamentals of ballet, including the introduction of exercises standing at the barre to develop strength, coordination, and balance. Gentle stretching and basic steps are learned at the barre, with center work and basic movements across the floor. We will also introduce the concepts of Derriere (to the back) and En Arriere (moving backwards).
Level 2B/3A Ballet (Ages 11-13)*

Ballet class for children ages 11-13, emphasizing the fundamentals of ballet, including the introduction of barre exercises with one hand on the barre to develop strength, coordination, and graceful movement. Gentle stretching and basic steps are learned at the barre, with center work and traveling across the floor. This is considered the Pre-Pointe level of our current school. This individual class is offered during the Fall Semester as a built-in makeup class for all dancers Level 3A and Up.
*Pre-Pointe Class Friday 5:15PM - 6PM may be added with a 25% discounted rate of $48/month over a 9 month period or $368 annual (if paid in full up front).
Level 3A/B / Boy's Ballet (Ages 12-14)*

A class with requisite ballet experience with emphasis on exercises to develop strength, coordination, and balance. Enhanced stretching techniques, pirouettes, adagio, jumps, and turns are also offered. Ballet Level 3A/B will include the introduction of work en pointe, which in turns focuses heavily on strengthening the foot, in-step, and ankle. Note: This class includes the cost of Pre-Pointe Conditioning, which is REQUIRED.
*Contemporary Class is an optional add-on for Thursday 6:00PM - 7:00PM and receives a discount rate (25% discount) of $48/month over a 9 month period or $368 annual (15% if paid in full up front).
Level 4B/5A Ballet (Ages 13+)*

With requisite ballet experience this class focuses on further development of strength, endurance, flexibility, extension, balance and extra pointe work in the center. Must have at least 2 years prior pointe experience to take part in this class.
*Contemporary Class is a REQUIRED add-on for all dancers Ballet Level 4A and up. NOTE: If you are signed up for all Ballet Level 4 classes, Contemporary Class is included in the tuition

An Introduction to pointe training, performed in soft shoes or bare feet with other parts of cross-training, for qualified students age 9 and up, who are of the Level 2B ballet technique level or above. Class includes exercises at the barre to strengthen lower legs and feet and learn basic pointe techniques. To test out of the class, you must pass a Pointe Shoe Assessment, which will be administered by the Artistic Director.
*NOTE: Pointe Shoe Assessment only to be administered to those dancers enrolled in Chambersburg Ballet's Ballet Level 3A/B classes, and will be administered at the discretion of the Artistic Director. This class is REQUIRED for all dancers Ballet Level 3A/B, and is included in the pricing of Ballet Level 3A/B.
Teen/Adult Pre-Pointe Conditioning (13+)*

An Introduction to pointe training, performed in soft shoes or bare feet with other parts of cross-training, for qualified teen/adult students, who shall be vetted and selected by the Teen/Adult Instructors. Class includes exercises at the barre to strengthen lower legs and feet and learn basic pointe techniques. To test out of the class, you must pass a Pointe Shoe Assessment, which will be administered by the Artistic Director.

A thorough intermediate/advanced level Pointe Class for those students level 4A and above who have completed two or more years on pointe, are comfortable with repeated relevés on one foot in the center, can pirouette en pointe, and execute consecutive turns from the corner.
*NOTE: Dancers enrolled in Level 4B/5A Ballet are automatically enrolled in this class with the fee included in the Ballet Level 4B/5A tuition.

This class is designed to strengthen muscles not typically used in ballet class, which helps mitigate injury risks and improve overall health and performance. Class focuses on multiple exercise modalities to help you become a better, fitter dancer and can include: bodyweight calisthenics, abdominal training, strength training with props and cardio-acceleration circuits.

This class encourages the freedom of expression, improvisation, innovation and creative exploration of movement.
*Contemporary is Included in Pricing of Level 4A/B and is REQUIRED for all dancers level 4A and up. Level 3A/B may be allowed to join in class with approval of the Artistic Director and the instructor. These dancers would receive a 25% discount on pricing ($49/mo or $375 if paid in full)
Company Class (Ages 12+)

Placement Class
New students in the age range to begin in Level 1 and up will be required to take a placement class to determine appropriate placement. This will be based on the age of the dancer as of January 1, 2027. Contact us for more details or with any questions.
